Kosel COD-Letters (incl. Christkindl)With these COD letters or cards Adolf Kosel collected the price for the subscription of the Austria Philatelist-magazine. These letters were sent via post-offices with special cancellations by COD. If customers paid the COD-amount, they had a philatelistic letter as a confirmation for their payment and for their collection. Among these COD-letters the ones sent via the Christkindl post-office became especially famous. Usually the Twelth Day (January 6th) was used. The post office Christkindl was usually used for Christmas greetings or philatelistic reasons. Business letters - and COD can certainly be considered to count as business- with the Christkindl cancellation are therefore rather rare.
